The 1st XI’s poor run continued against 2nd placed Midsomer Norton on Saturday. Batting first Perrott were indebted to 16 year old Jamie Baird with a maiden Perrott century 102NO, he was supported by Alex Eckland 53 and Jake Symes 25NO in a total of 233-8.
With the visitors at 107-4 the game was finely balanced but Perrott could not push on and Jake Rowe 57NO for Midsomer Norton saw his side win for 5 wickets down. There were 2 wickets each for Stacey Hawes and Gordon Whorlow. Perrott remain mid table.
2nd XI travelled to top of the table Lympsham & Belevedere. Perrott batted first and made 195-5 with 48NO from Lewis Hunt and 34 from Tommy Stewart.
In a tense finish 14 were needed when the home side’s last pair came together. A 6 and a 4 seemed to be taking the home side to victory but George Johnson enticed the last man to go for another 6 only for Joe Woodland on the second attempt to hold on to a match winning catch and victory by 3 runs. Man of Match Lewis Hunt taking 4-36 and 2 each for Messrs Hyett and Downing. Perrott remain 3rd and live in hope of Weston dropping more than a few points at Uphill next Saturday.
Meantime the 3rd XI had travelled to Taunton Deane 5ths. The home side batting first and making a creditable 212-6 in 40 overs. Simon Gerring taking 3-19 and a wicket each for Munden, Binns & Vickery. Perrott’s openers Simon Gerring 128NO and Ed Buxton 60 were in no mood to hang about and Perrott knocked off the runs in 31 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket.
Perrott remain top and baring any major hiccups should secure promotion as champions next weekend.
